2-01-2012- day before groundhog day

and babe the wonder dog is on watch and at same time performing quality control on the man chair i carved some time ago. it is designed around my frame and i am 6 foot 4 and weigh to darn much but still able to slide my carcass between those arms of that chair. when we were kids we had a chair and still do that was similar as the arms of the chair formed 2 dragons heads and my thoughts were along the same line where , and what if a chair had real arms and legs and was a man chair. fit for a king, or at least a poor chainsaw carver with a can do attitude. its amazing what one can do or make with a chainsaw with a little creativity. you can build a house(log cabin) , a bridge, a tree house, to sit in, and stairs to climb, shingles to roof your house , and a fire to keep you warm on rainy nights. also you can make utensils to eat with wooden spoons, and wooden bowls to eat out of. and all of this is just out your back door or at least out mine. and a bed to sleep in. what more could you want with one machine and some gas and labor, and oh yeah a four legged supervisor to bark orders and a tractor to use as your back. you can perform miracles.
so one could say with a chainsaw and gas a level of society as we know it can be achieved with some creativity.
at one point in my life i had to figure out what else i could do with a chainsaw as cutting firewood was ok and again i only cut cull wood that was down and dried and would otherwise rot on forest floor. wood is a renewable source of solar energy . light that would have been otherwise bounced off a bare planet is absorbed into the leaves and through the photosynthetic process is transformed into mass along with carbon dioxide and water. it is a system for trapping solar energy and carbon dioxide. this helps condition our environment and avoids the dreaded greenhouse effect of the planet heating up. and at same time allows us comfort and gives us a shady spot to sit in in summers heat and a cool breeze to flow under, as we ponder life's problems. also it keeps us warm in winter.

firewood is an ok job as long as you have equipment and manpower to handle it. by yourself it is tough to do and with a bad back it is a killer. so i looked at my resources as i had one of those agonizing moments of reappraisal in my life when it sucks and decided to try something different. at first i wasn't so good but have been getting better over the years and this is one of those projects i always wanted to do and still have. it weighs close to seven hundred pounds and is awkward and requires a man to move as well as a tractor with a bucket. i planted it on porch and so far it has stayed there and has not blew over, and although it has legs never went anywhere. it is my man chair and someday will reside in my house.
