2-02-2012- happy groundhog day
puxatawney phil may be able to predict weather in pennsylvania but i'm sure it is heading towards spring in tampa, florida. above is a pic of a finch i am guessing. now write and tell me how out of touch i am in guessing identities of birds. well i am better at catching birds as this one wrangled herself onto our glassed in back porch and required me to move her outside lest she beat herself to death smacking into the glass. i was able to coax her to a corner of the window and use my large hand to cover her and she just relaxed into my hand and then i moved her to the outside and placed her on the banister outside the house and released her. but she was a little dazed and figured i was going to eat her or whatever so she just sat there waiting for certain doom but it didnt happen. and so she sat there long enough for me to grab my camera and take a shot of her watching me. soon after she just flew off safe and sound. maybe thanking me with a close up.
i have pictures of an angel i have carved and my logo for my Facebook site , and i use it on several things, and have been told it looks a lot like me so i kept the carving as well as the angel . you never know when you could use an angel.. then i will show you that in 2 different previous years what February normally looks like around here.as this is the kev logo head and was carved in Feb 2010.that is him above.
next is a carving of him and the angel in Feb. 2011.this was after a 2011 ice storm and i will show you the shot i use for my logo on Facebook.
then a shot of the same sculpture in 2010 in February after a heavy snow fall the previous year.
the backgrounds in all these are white because it was cold and snowy and downright ugly.the bear was really struggling to carry the head through the snow.
the next pic is of the angel after i carved her. they told me this was wormwood or something like that . really liked the way it carved and is holding up real well over time .
and another angle of the angel.
well in conclusion , irregardless whether we have 6 weeks of winter or not . dont think i am shucking the coat anytime soon, or sunbathing. but i am sure i will have my fair share of rainy days and Mondays and one day it will be spring , and the sooner the better. we can always hope. you can always click on images to enlarge smaller photos.
