Time to Think Spring
It seems that
this winter has went on forever , and part of that is that it has become cold and stayed that way. With misery impaling
itself on more misery while in some ways adjusting our tolerance levels, allowing
us to fully succumb to this winter we firmly call only: made in Ohio. That bone
chilling numbness that hurts all the way down so subtly to your soul. They say it’s
the humidity or the moisture in the air, or some other meteorological phenomenon
but truly it is just something only an Ohioan would know about.
It’s kinda like
being a Cleveland fan. Whether it’s the Browns, Cavaliers, or the Indians, it
is always that same pain we endure as week after week we sit and cheer on a
losing team always trying to keep the faith up as if in the last minute we will
finally be champions of something. But instead the hurt we experience is much
like the weather, as we wait for some sunny news and yet we realize we are just masochists at heart that just we love that pain we share when it just another gray day.
But even this winter has pushed me more than
usual. I had a little Black Angus calf born in the blizzard and named him Blizzard,
as you never know when she is going to blow by. She runs snorts and jumps and today
when I let Blizzard and her mom out today she had her mom on the run trying to
keep up with her.
I finally was
able to trap Blizzard by the barn and shooed her back in the pen and then her
mom who was glad the exercise was over and that Blizzard was under control. I heard
Blizzard still yet as she was bellowing and snorting as she continued to
tear up even though she was in the confines of the barn . She has been nothing
but a handful since born. Seeing her born and running around today makes me
think of spring.
And with spring
comes hope that maybe this might be the year we finally get that championship
team at something. After all that is what us Ohioans are all about and that is
hope. It’s a gray day and the Browns just lost again, but there is always the Indians.
Hope is our rallying call. It is kind of a never say never life. We hope
the weather gets better, and we will feel better. Hope is what drives us. We understand disappointment and yet perseverance.
We survive. Come on spring. Damn groundhogs don’t know anything.
Will soon be
diving into ordering seedlings and starter plants for this coming year and
getting these started in the greenhouse.
Also I will be heating the greenhouse up soon in preparation for this year’s
growing season. I will be taking special requests for any variety of bedding plant,
tomato, green peppers, etc. in quantities you would like. Will have available
to pick up on Mother’s day, and as well I will have potted baskets and also trees and
grasses(fescue), some perennials , and plenty more before then I hope to share
with you.
As I go along
here I will be keeping you up to date with any news regarding what will be
available for this spring. Please keep checking in at my blog site or at
kevscarvings @facebook.com , or kevscarvings.com. I plan on updating my website
and you can always contact me at kdavis3051@yahoo.com,
if you would like to request plants. Thank you for reading.
