what again?

well it says to expect a freeze tonight and it will probably. can already feel the house cooling off and it is a clear night . beautiful for star gazing as moon is only half full. the day was somewhat warm and may save us tonight from another killing frost to affect fruit trees and such. i did manage to get my chainsaw on the mend again, after a thorough cleaning. will try a new plug and a new gas filter and see if that helps also. but so far seems to be better. i managed to get a little carving done and will share a pic with you.
made my rounds and ended up at the donut shop and read the newspaper, grab some feed for the cattle and 50 lbs of bird feed for my birds. counted over 20 birds feeding out of the feeder the other day. i can go through the 50 lbs if i didn't let them clean up the feeder completely before filling again. even at that i still use 3/4 of a bag / week. but we have birds all kinds of them . would rather have the birds than all the insects they eat. not only do they eat bird feed they also can be seen scouting for food in all kinds of places.
this will be important this year especially as the mild winter is already giving rise to  increased insect  populations , as they are starting earlier and will last longer. today was the first tic i have seen on me and took one off babe so far. now if we could just get the tics to taste like bird food.  if nothing else maybe having the birds around will keep the insects down in a natural way.
we still have over a month before the last frost free date , which is may 10th.. avoid the temptation of planting anything you cant cover from frost . it is still a real threat. peaas , onions , potatoes could be planted , and you can plant herbs in pots you can carry inside. and you may take a chance with carrots and green beans . but any of it may be subject to severe frost. your tomato plants should have already been started in doors. back to the somedays, but someday i will have a small greenhouse and will be able to have early starting capability.

i just wanted to share more pics with you that i took last weekend. past experience tells me that quite possibly this might be the best weekend for viewing. we are at least 2 weeks ahead of our regular bloom cycle as usually we don't get these blooms till way after easter.  how many times have we had snow on easter?

as you can see there are plenty of places to sit and ponder and enjoy natures bounty, of rich lush colors and sweet aromas of spring wafting through the air. and if by chance this isnt available to you this weekend , i wouldnt hesitate returning the following weekend and still be able to enjoy the bloom fest.
